In 2024, bp took on full ownership of Lightsource bp, which is founded and headquartered in the UK. The company has been providing renewable, sustainable energy to homes and businesses across the country for more than a decade.
Lightsource bp has developed around one fifth of the UK’s large-scale solar to date and has a substantial pipeline of solar and energy storage opportunities in the country.
bp mostly produces, trades and sells oil and gas, alongside transition activities such as EV charging, bioenergy and renewables that are a much smaller but key part of our business.
