Aviation fuel and services

Air bp, the aviation division of bp, has been a trusted partner to the UK aviation industry for decades.

Established in 1926, Air bp supplies Jet A-1 and Avgas to airports nationwide, supporting commercial airlines, general aviation and military customers with reliable fuel supply and technical expertise.

In April 1926, Air bp pioneered Europe’s first into-aircraft fuelling service, marking the beginning of a century-long journey shaping global aviation. From fuelling Neville Stack’s historic Croydon-to-India flight in 1927 to supporting the development of Concorde with our fuel supply in the 1960s, Air bp has consistently driven progress in aviation endeavour and technology. Today, we serve over 600 locations in more than 40 countries, fuelling around 6,800 flights daily – more than one every 15 seconds.

In the UK, Air bp provides aviation fuel and services at more than 70 locations and bp operates key fuel terminals at Hamble and Hemel Hempstead.

Air bp provides technical services to the aviation industry ranging from operational support to engineering design. We have supported the design of airport fuel infrastructure for over 50 years and hold many technical services relationships across the UK covering general aviation, international airports and supply infrastructure.

We are also one of the major suppliers of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF)* in the country.  And to support the UK government mandates, we currently supply a 2% SAF blend to all eligible locations in the UK (and Continental Europe).

As we celebrate 100 years, Air bp remains committed to innovation, safety and sustainability – while delivering reliable energy solutions worldwide.

*Air bp sustainable aviation fuel is made from waste- and residue-based sustainable feedstocks (HEFA SAF). SAF can enable up to 80% lifecycle carbon emission savings compared to 100% petroleum jet fuel. This figure refers to the entire lifecycle of the fuel, not tailpipe emissions, and depends on feedstock and production pathway. SAF does not eliminate emissions during combustion; reductions are calculated over the fuel’s lifecycle (feedstock sourcing, production, transport, and use).

bp mostly produces, trades and sells oil and gas, alongside transition activities such as EV charging, bioenergy and renewables that are a much smaller but key part of our business.
