Who we are

bp is a trusted presence across the UK, with 1,150 retail sites serving communities nationwide. As a pioneer of the UK oil and gas industry, we have helped to build the infrastructure and expertise that remain essential today. And with our joint venture partners, we are investing in projects in carbon capture and storage and renewables (find out more about our strategy).

Our commitment to innovation continues through research centres in Hull, Pangbourne and Sunbury, while Air bp provides aviation fuel and services at over 70 locations and we operate key fuel terminals at Hamble and Hemel Hempstead.

Here is how we are delivering in the UK:

North Sea oil and gas

For 60 years, bp has been a trusted presence in the North Sea. Today, we operate five key production hubs across the central North Sea and west of Shetland.

Mobility and convenience

For UK drivers, quality and convenience matter. Our nationwide network of retail sites offers advanced fuels and premium convenience. We’re also growing our EV charging network.

Supply, trading and shipping

bp’s global supply, trading & shipping (ST&S) business is headquartered in London. We connect energy producers, suppliers, markets and customers to keep energy flowing today and help build out tomorrow’s energy system.

Aviation fuel and services

Air bp is among the world’s leading suppliers of aviation fuel and services. In the UK, we serve more than 70 airports, providing high-quality fuels.

Energy transition plans

As part of bp’s reset strategy, we have plans to invest selectively and with discipline in lower carbon and renewable energy in the UK. We are progressing plans with partners for carbon capture and storage and offshore wind projects, and are active in solar through Lightsource bp.

Supporting the UK economy

Throughout our long history, we have always prided ourselves on making a positive contribution to the country’s economy and society. Each year, we publish the bp UK Economic Impact Report, produced with analysis from Oxford Economics.

Supporting UK communities

For more than 50 years, we have invested our time, skills and money to seek to make meaningful contributions to the communities where we operate.

bp mostly produces, trades and sells oil and gas, alongside transition activities such as EV charging, bioenergy and renewables that are a much smaller but key part of our business.
