bp and the Audi Revolut F1® Team have joined forces to take on Formula 1® in 2026.
bp is the official technology partner of the Audi Revolut F1® Team, and we work as one, developing the power unit and fuel together, as our specialist lubricants business Castrol develops the fluids.
The 2026 season marks the F1® debut for the Audi brand. It’s a new partnership for bp and it’s a new era for motorsport, when many aspects of race technology are evolving fast. For the first time, every power unit must run on what the FIA calls advanced sustainable fuels1, while performing just as well, or better than, before.
For the race, we have developed bp Ultimate Racing2, a specially formulated fuel engineered exclusively to help maximize the performance of the power unit and meet the 2026 FIA fuel regulations3.
At this level, every detail counts and the smallest change in fuel tech can lead to huge advances for elite drivers.

New team, new season
Hear about the development of bp Ultimate Racing and why it matters, from our fuel technologists and the Audi Revolut F1® Team.
Why fuel matters
‘It’s one team’
Pushing the limits

"With bp, we have a great collaboration. It's a perfect fit. I don't even say it's a partnership – it's one team working to get the best engine performance."
Mattia Binotto, Head of Audi F1® Project
What is racing fuel?
Formula 1® is an extreme environment for fuel – high speeds, temperatures, pressure, and more. Racing fuel – unlike everyday fuel at the forecourt - is designed with those parameters in mind.
bp has co-developed bp Ultimate Racing, a bespoke fuel, with the Audi Revolut F1® Team for the team’s 2026 debut, meeting the Formula 1® racing body’s new technical regulations. Over 400 pilot fuels were developed and more than 200 blends tested at the team’s lab, with bp technologists working side-by-side with the group developing the power unit.
The FIA requires that all teams use fuel derived from 'Advanced Sustainable Components,' sourced from non-food biomass, renewable feedstock of non-biological origin or municipal waste.

“What we're doing here is developing a brand-new fuel together with the hybrid power unit from scratch. That's very different to developing a fuel for an existing engine. We have to evolve the fuel through an intense iterative process.”
Luc Jolly, bp Motorsport Fluids Technology Lead

Why F1® matters to bp
On the track, every fraction of a second counts. Fuel and engine performance are pushed to the limit.
