Top tips to keep moving this summer

  1. Plan smart: Check live charger availability and save favourites in the bp charge app before you set off. 
  2. Beat the heat: Park in shade when possible; high battery temperatures can slow charging speeds on some vehicles.
  3. Time it right: If you’re a Contact customer, make sure to link your bp charge account before you charge. Start your charge in the morning (7–9am) or late afternoon (4–6pm) to maximise your savings1.
  4. Don’t always aim for 100%: EVs experience a charging curve – as the battery approaches full capacity, charging speed slows significantly. Stopping at around 80% helps you avoid the slowest part of the charge and gets you back on the road faster.
  5. Bring your bp charge card (RFID): Your bp charge card makes starting sessions at the charger a breeze; just remember to register the 14-digit ID in the app.
  6. Know your connectors: Use the app filters to check plug type and speed before you arrive.
