What we do

bp is proud to be supporting Kuwait within the Enhanced Technical Services Agreement (ETSA) with Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) signed in 2016. Our historical journey

  • Exportation of KOC began in 1946, in which the first export of Kuwait crude was loaded on to the bp vessel ‘Fusilier.
  • bp was the first oil company to be invited by the Kuwaiti Government to assist in the redevelopment of Kuwait's oil industry in 1992. The TSA was the first and largest agreement with IOC’s and KOC at the time.
  • In the mid 2000’s, bp had over 40 technical specialists working in Kuwait, and helped KOC manage the North and west Kuwait fields. Commissioned the start-up waterflood in Greater Burgan and assisted in enhancing production efficiency, reserves growth, and enhanced growth recovery in South East Kuwait.
  • Between 2014-2016, a TSA was signed with KOC bringing bp’s expertise in enhanced oil recovery to the giant Burgan oilfield, and bp technical specialists also assisted KOC in the Wara Waterflood project.
  • In 2018, bp signed a five-year agreement with KIPIC to provide advice and technical expertise to help enhance operational excellence, reliability management, commissioning and start-up readiness at Al-Zour refinery.
