William Lin, EVP Gas and Low Carbon Energy, bp reiterated bp’s commitment to Trinidad and Tobago’s energy sector development when he met with the Hon. Kamla Persad-Bissessar, Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago recently.
During the meeting Lin and bpTT president David Campbell took the opportunity to update the Prime Minister on bpTT’s activities. It’s been a busy year for bpTT as two developments came online – Cypre in March and Mento, a joint venture, in May. Work is continuing on Phase 2 of Cypre as well as the next development, Ginger. Coconut, another joint venture, is also progressing.
Lin’s meeting with the Prime Minister was part of a visit that included a tour of bpTT’s operating facilities in Galeota and Beachfield. These facilities are important because they process the gas and liquids produced offshore for supply to the midstream and downstream.
bpTT continues its thrust toward building and strengthening its relationship with the Government. Over the last few weeks, David Campbell has met with Dr. The Hon. Roodal Moonilal, Minister of Energy and Energy Industries, the Hon. Sean Sobers, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs and Senator the Hon. Ravi Ratiram, Minister of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries – to discuss key energy matters - and to continue discussions on forming synergistic partnerships that will unlock value for the nation, for bp and for the industry.
Campbell said: “This is another demonstration of our strategy in action – as building strong country relationships is foundational to delivering our strategy. I look forward to continued dialogue and partnership with the Government, as we work together to unlock the energy future of Trinidad and Tobago.”
